How many licks does it take...?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? Well. There are different methods of figuring out. You could lick one by one, counting each time until you reach the center. But that takes too long, doesn't it? So then you could try the lick until you are able to crack it with your teeth and just bite away. Yet, that defeats the purpose of trying, right? Or you could just break your teeth eating it whole. That one never works. You'd end up with no center of a tootsie pop and a mouth full of broken teeth.

In the case of love? Do you slowly get to the center, counting each lick one by one? That could be a sure way of figuring out. But what if you get there? What if you get there, only to find yourself disappointed? Do you try to get there quickly by breaking off that outer shell? But what if that damages the inside? And you can't dive right into it. You'll break your teeth.

So what happens? Go slowly for disappointment? Try quickly for it to fail? Or just break yourself apart?

But what if you simply don't try? Just go for it because you're enjoying it? Because you don't care how long it takes, just for you to get there. It doesn't matter about how many licks it takes to get to the center. It's more of the fact that you DID get there. Maybe.

What if you don't bother? You simply don't get to the center. You don't do anything at all. Hell, you never even took the wrapper off. Guess it's a waste of time to even bother then.

Or maybe you'll end up more disappointed that you never got to the center; you never even found out if it was right.

  1. how about this, you leave the tootsie pop alone, and go about with your everyday life. With time, the tootsie pop will melt, exposing the core/love. Because that's how love works, there is no science behind it
